Cinema Ventures

Cinema Ventures, Australia’s first not for profit distributor, specialises in issue based films and community engagement. We help filmmakers, community groups and charities use the power of film and the experience of cinema to create positive social change.

There are three options for screening with Cinema Ventures:

Through our unique grassroots programs – We Screen (Dedicated Film Tours) and You Screen (Single Screening Film Hire) – filmmakers and host community groups and charities can engage, inspire and activate audiences. By holding screenings, host groups can also raise valuable funds for their activities.

As a not-for-profit film distributor, our aim is to extend a film’s potential. In this way we work both on an exclusive and non-exclusive basis with filmmakers – developing new audiences and methods of outreach. In this way we enhance opportunities for, rather than compete with, commercial film distributors.

And because we believe in cinema and its power to bring communities together we have created a Community Screen – mobile community cinema for those communities which do not have cinema facilities.

Cinema Ventures is a not-for-profit company, limited by guarantee, and can accept tax-deductible donations via ABAF (Australian Business Arts Foundation).

Cinema Ventures is funded by Screen Australia, Screen NSW, Screen Victoria and Screen Queensland.
